How Brackets works
Pick the winner of every race in the chambers you choose. A point for every one you get right.
Two tiers, by the forecast’s chance
Every race sits in one, by its favorite’s chance against its chamber’s line:
- Close Calls
- Yours to pick: Senate under 97%, House under 80%, Governors under 85%.
- Safe
- Picked for you with the favorite: Senate 97%+, House 80%+, Governors 85%+.
Every race in both tiers can be changed until the lock: tap the other name. Tiers move with the forecast until then; a race that moves into the Close Calls is marked.
Choose your races
Any mix of the Senate, the House and the governors.
Save, and keep changing
No account is needed to pick. Save with a code sent to your email and your bracket follows you; after that every change saves itself. You can keep up to 10 brackets.
Play your friends
Start a group and send its link, or join from a friend’s. A group takes one bracket from each player unless its organizer allows more (up to 10). Before the lock the group sees each bracket’s totals (seats by party, the call they make, the Close Calls picked), never a race’s pick. The Forecast plays too, picking every favorite, unless the organizer turns it off.
The lock
Picks lock at 6 p.m. Eastern on Tuesday, November 3, when the first polls close. Races the forecast filled for you keep its favorite as of that moment, and every race keeps its tier; a race with no pick scores nothing.
Scoring
A point for every race you pick right, both tiers alike: the total decides your group and the leaderboard. A tie goes to whoever named the closest Senate race, then to whoever came nearest its margin. Scores update live on election night as races are called.
The standings also rank everyone on each tier alone: the Close Calls show who read the close races best.
